Product database

The flexible product data model for features, relationships and views

In most cases, item master data from the ERP system is not sufficient to ensure market- and media-oriented and customer-oriented product communication. For this reason, product features, representations in a marketing view and product relationships such as spare parts, accessories and product recommendations are used. Mandatory fields and inheritance functions can be used to optimize data maintenance.

Flexible data model

Although standard software is used, the product data model can be flexibly adapted to individual requirements. Products and variants can be presented in different ways, e.g. market and target group-specific (in marketing) or function oriented (in engineering). Product relationships such as accessories, parts lists, sets and recommendations can also be easily mapped.

Easy administration

Due to the comprehensive flexibility, the administrator can freely define all basic settings. New requirements can be quickly implemented by configuring the product data model via a graphical user interface. To optimize data maintenance, mandatory fields can be defined and inheritance possibilities can be used.

Product features

Product features are used to describe products in a structured way. The product features are grouped into maintenance and output classes for easy and fast maintenance and to control the display in different output channels. This allows, for example, product tables to be generated automatically and defined characteristics to be used for filtering in online catalogs.

Product views

Products are displayed in the company in different views. In the ERP system, products are usually structured differently than for design, marketing or trade partners. With crossbase, any number of views for all output channels and target groups can be mapped in a single database.

Product relationships

Product relationships are often maintained in the ERP or PDM system, but are usually incomplete for comprehensive product communication. Any type of relationship can be defined in crossbase. With bulk data maintenance functions, relationships between multiple articles can be maintained quickly and easily.

Customer-specific structures

The crossbase database can be flexibly extended by further structures. These structures can be, for example, the mapping of market-specific sales channels, application-related contexts, further product hierarchies or media structures. The data model can thus be individually adapted to demanding requirements.

Configurator

When selecting products that require explanation, product finders are very useful as intelligent selection aids. These lead the user to the suitable product, e.g. via specific tasks. With the crossbase configurator, rules can be created to determine the suitable item variants for product characteristics.

Dynamic unit converter

Already in the standard scope of functions, values with other units of measurement can be generated automatically by means of conversion formulas for additional attributes. The optionally available dynamic unit converter simplifies this procedure even further, since additional output-specific units of measurement can be specified for a unit of measurement. Thus, with this approach, no additional attributes are needed. The desired units of measurement are only converted dynamically during output. If required, typical fractions can also be output, e.g. for inch dimensions.
